Pascal Pelletier Signs With Columbus
July 9th, 2009 | by sweetbob |
The Columbus Blue Jackets came to terms with Pascal Pelletier, He’s a young center originally from Labrador (Yes, like the dog). It’s an area in Newfoundland and he became the first person from that area to play in the NHL. He’s 26 years old and has spent much of his career in the ECHL. He has shown the ability to score and distribute the puck in the minors. He has not had any regular playing time in the NHL, that could change next season.
Pelletier will not be a a 1st Line player, but he could fill in and help a young 3rd Line at center. If he develops into a average-to-good scorer, he will be another good, young player for the Blue Jackets to stock up until he’s ready. He could end up in Syracuse at the beginning of the season, depending on their need at center. They already have Derick Brassard, R.J. Umberger, and Antoine Vermette at center, so at the least, Pelletier could be an insurance policy if one of those players go down with an injury.
