Blue Jackets Announce Pre-Season Games and Cheaper Seats

July 14th, 2009 | by sweetbob |

The Blue Jackets announced their preseason schedule today. There will be a total of eight games, which includes four home games at Nationwide Arena. They will be playing split schedules with the defending Stanley Cup champions, The Pittsburgh Penguins, Nashville Predators, Minnesota Wild, and Boston Bruins.

Friday, Sept. 18 at Minnesota, 8pm
Saturday, Sept. 19 at Nashville, 8pm
Monday, Sept. 21 vs. Minnesota, 7pm
Tuesday, Sept. 22 vs. Boston, 7pm
Thursday, Sept. 24 vs. Pittsburgh, 7pm
Friday, Sept. 25 at Pittsburgh, 7:30pm
Saturday, Sept. 26 at Boston, 7pm

Monday, Sept. 28 vs. Nashville, 7pm

Columbus also announced a nice tidbit today. They have re-structured some seating areas in Nationwide Arena to make an additional 1,400 tickets available at the two lowest price points. Up to 1,000 seats that were $32 per game for full season tickets are now priced at $18. This should generate more season-ticket holders and help nuture the game of hockey in such a college football dominated city.

Smaller package ticket buyers will also see relief at the gate, the lowest-priced seating area will be available for sale in six-game plans for $117, 10-game plans for $190 and 20-game plans for $380. I think I could even afford some of those packages. It’s a great deal and I’m glad that hockey games are becoming more affordable for families and casual fans to attend.

The Blue Jackets schedule for the 2009-10 regular season is expected to be released on Wednesday. Check back then and I will have a full listing and analysis of must-see games for the season.
